Subject: It's still unmistakable...Date: Thu 22-Dec-2005, 13:45:36

But you've heard correctly. The outside is mostly intact (except for the monstrosity they built onto the front in 2004... the back is almost identical to its former self). The inside is completely recognizable, but the railings are different, and all but a one (yes, one, by the escalator nearest the "loading docks") of the old lighting fixtures have been replaced. The marble columns are the same (with some added wooden frills), and the floor is the same. Some other major changes have also taken place, including the removal of the clock tower on the West end and the large fountain on the East end (the latter being replaced by a Mister Rogers playplace for children). The guts of the building, however, the backhallways and stairwells, are identical, sporting only fresh paintjobs.

Despite the changes, I think it's still every bit as worth a visit as it's always been. Glad you had a chance to go!
