But if a tiny amount of blood came out and nothing much got ripped, then it wouldn't be that good to watch on film would it? lol.

Blood gushes out like a firehose in films like Kill Bill or Ichi The Killer and it literally drenches the set...that doesn't happen in real life...but it's a movie, so it looks cool.
