October 20, 1999… Perth Amboy, three days later

The entire town, gone. Buildings stood in ruins, street ripped off the ground; everything was gone. Perth Amboy was history. Several scientists, wearing biological protection suits were sweeping the area for any contaminations. They were searching down what was once Convery Blvd. One scientist noticed something on the ground.

"Hey Dr. Boyd, we found one that has not been damaged." Dr. Smith said.

Dr. Boyd walked over to him. He looked down at a figure, trapped under a car. It had a bullet wound in its head. The blast had not affected it, since a car had enough metal shielding to protect it.

"Take it, we found all that we have." Dr. Boyd said.

The doctor scooped up the rotting corpse and carried it over to a truck. He opened the back, and cold steam came out. He put the corpse inside the freezer and shut the door. The truck drove off, out of the site, with the only sample they had was there.

Or so they thought….

March 10, 2000… Five months later

Woodbridge, NJ

Rich was running to his friend Kevin. He signaled him behind a truck, parked in front of a grade school. They were hidden for now till they find them.

"Rich, could you find anything?" Kevin asked.

"Sorry man, all I found was a baseball bat." Rich said. All they had was a shotgun with two shells left. There were 200 or so of them still wandering around, looking.

"There's nothing we can do." Kevin said. Rich agreed.

Kevin held the shotgun in front of their heads and pulled the trigger.

South Amboy, NJ

St. Mary high school was overrun. Three teenagers held up their ground on the second story of the building. They too, were running out of ammo. Jon was looking out the window of room 207, and saw the disaster that was South Amboy.

"Jesus, what do we do?" Jon asked

"I don't know." His friend Kelly replied.

"We can try to break a run for it. They're spread out a bit, we could make it." Joanne said.

There was a shot of doubt going across the eyes of the three. They didn't have much of a choice. They were alone, tired from running the past 20 hours, hungry from the fact that the cafeteria was raided and the food is gone. Hell, even the candy machines were destroyed. They were in a lose-lose situation.

"We don't have much of a choice do we?" Jon said.

They started off towards the end of the hallway to the stairs that would lead to the bottom floor. From there they could plan their escape. However, as soon as they reached the door, an army of them stumbled into the hall and attacked the three survivors.

They were being torn apart by these things, and all that could be heard on dead ears was screaming, bloody screaming. South Amboy was gone.

All over New Jersey, it was the same all over, cities were being overrun in a short period of time. People didn't know it would happen to them, but it did, and they are now dead. There is no other way to put this: Zombies, the living dead have taken over New Jersey. Death has come again… The fight continues…

Two Weeks Later

March 24, 2000 2:00am…

A four by four pickup truck sat under the street light in a highway that led into the Capital of New Jersey, Trenton. It had been sitting there for several hours, expecting any survivor to come out. Only one had shown up.

"George, how much longer do we wait?" Holly asked him.

The survivors from Perth Amboy: George, Adolph, Holly, and Rafael. They had lasted this long against the zombie raid of New Jersey. Ever since the destruction, they had thought about going on their separate ways, however, since most of their families perished in the attack, they had considered each other family. They had relied on each other throughout the tragedy, and they weren't about to give up.

George had assumed a leadership role in the group, as he got them out of a lot of sticky situations in several nearby towns. Ever since the disaster, he has become darker in mood, yet a bit more self-reliant. Everyone else become a little bit more self-reliant, trusting each other's instincts on what to do. And up till now, they had done a good job.

"We'll wait till morning, then we head out of this Godforsaken state." George said.

In their truck, they had plenty of supplies that should last them: flashlights, food, water, clothing, and the most essential items: guns, with plenty of ammo. George held on to the Beretta that was given to him the day he entered Perth Amboy. And along with it were four full clips. Adolph had a rifle with him, Italian design, mostly used by Marines. Holly had a six-shooter with her, plenty of bullets in her backpack. Rafael had a massive looking 12-gauge shotgun he has had since the disaster. Each one was armed to the teeth for anything that was rotting to show its ugly face.
