Peter looks over to see a car on display, it is a sporty car, and it looks fast and maneuverable. Peter and Roger run over to it.

PETER: You okay to start it?

ROGER: Yeah, don't worry about me, go help Fran and Flyboy.

Peter nods and runs over to the gates. The gate swings up with a thunderous roar. The Zombies attack but Fran's torches make them hold back slightly. Stephen grabs one of the propane canisters with one hand and draws a pistol with the other. Fran draws a handgun also. The two fire into the pack of Zombies. One or two fall. The others try to move in but are afraid of the bright flames. One gets close to Stephen but the man blasts his torch directly into its face. Its hair catches on fire and the creature throws itself wildly about, knocking other Zombies back. Stephen now drops the gate before Fran can get to the other side.

FRAN: STEPHEN!

STEPHEN: Here! Take the keys!

He hands off the keys to Fran and she tries to unlock the door while Stephen holds off the Zombies. With a brief struggle, Fran gets the gate open. She quickly runs to the other side and locks the gates behind her. Meanwhile, Roger is trying to hot wire the car. A Zombie comes up behind him and prepares to eat at his leg.

PETER: ROGER! LOOK OUT!

Roger turns around with the speed of a cat and shoots the beast between the eyes. He then shakes it off and continues. Suddenly the engine revs. More Zombies approach behind as Peter and Stephen enter the car. As soon as they do, Roger floors the engine. He drives down to the mall entrance and lets out Stephen and Peter. As they go to lock the gates, Roger takes out a few zombies. They speak as they get the last lock.

PETER: It's not 100%, but I'm pretty sure they can't get through.

STEPHEN: What if they smash the glass?

PETER: Not possible. It's the safety stuff. Pretty indestructible.

Peter takes the keys and opens an electric junction box. He then tests the alarms and shuts them off. They get back in the car and Roger takes off. Meanwhile Fran is awaiting transmission in the department store.

STEPHEN: It's okay! We've got it made! It's going to work!

Roger tears down the concourse knocking over all the Zombies in his way. A Zombie sits down in front of the store and stares at Fran. Fran stares back, feeling sympathetic. Fran looks out the store to see them fly by. Suddenly, a shot from Roger's .45 makes the Zombie's head pop like an overripe melon. She looks past it to see Roger waving as they drive by. The corpse hits the ground. Follow the car from the rear. Peter and Stephen emerge again, very fluidly locking the Zombies out. Cut to the triumphant four overlooking their winnings. A slew of corpses lie all over the ground floor. Cut to the base of operations, the living quarters. Stephen and Peter are going over blueprints. Peter points at the map.

PETER: We put up a wall here, in front of the stairwell. That way we can still get to the plumbing and such.

STEPHEN: We could just board it up. Hell, they can't get through a stack of cartons.

PETER: I'm not worried about them so much. Sooner or later a patrol might come through here, maybe looters. I don't want them to know that stairway even exists.

Peter and Stephen are sitting next to loads of materials, taken to get the job done. Roger is in the next room sleeping. Fran is pacing around, smoking a cigarette. Cut to Peter, Stephen and Roger working on the fake wall. The two by fours are in sporadic patterns all over the backside. Stephen and Peter are nailing boards to the wall and Roger is laying out the rug like material on reverse side. Suddenly he hears a moaning. He turns to see a solitary Zombie pacing about the balcony. He pulls out his .45 and shoots it in the head, sending it over the balcony.

PETER: Everything okay man?

ROGER: We need to do something about these corpses.

Cut to Fran vomiting from morning sickness. The woman is kneeling on the floor, propped up by her hands on the toilet seat. Steve approaches quietly. His hand falls on her back.

FRAN: GO AWAY! I don't want you to see me like this.

STEPHEN: Frannie…

FRAN: Just get out of here!

Stephen stands up reluctantly and drifts out of the room. The woman wretches but she is dry. She tries to swallow, then sits on the floor next to the toilet holding her stomach. She fumbles with the flush handle, depressing it. The rushing water makes an ugly sound. Fran looks down at her stomach thinking of her pregnancy. Cut to Stephen walking out to the unfinished barrier to join Roger and Peter.
