"God speed us all! God speed!

With that reply, Wes Keenan came up to the podium in front of a lunging crowd of eager reporters. He was the nation’s selected Surgeon General for only two years and this momentous occasion was no doubt the most nervous time in his life. Across the speech hall and over the unruly jabbering of dozens of news representatives, Keenan saw the leading representative for the CDC, the Center for Disease Control. She was a middle-aged, white woman with a pair of large glasses that looked imported directly from the sixties. Around them, a multitude of cameras focused on the forum hall as they brought the upcoming information to millions of homes across America. This scientific sermon was held to shed some light to those in need, especially to those locked up somewhere trying to evade the ghoulish menace beyond.

Keenan was an African American man that had studied under the best medical geniuses of his day, but he knew he had some trouble on his hands, when the CDC’s expert took a position next to him on a similar podium only a few feet away. When she got into position, she waved her arm toward the gathering reporters and began the briefing session. Although this hearing was promptly announced to address the publics growing concern regarding the new plague, military officials had set it up as more of a public debate. Keenan knew that the authorities wanted to get both points of views about this ravaging plague that resurrected the dead into cannibalistic psychopaths. As the crowd of TV cameramen, newspaper reporters and other media hounds silenced their bickering, the CDC representative took center stage and addressed the curious mob.

"I’ll make my introduction short - -My name is Cynthia Bolton. I was chosen as the lead representative for the Center for Disease Control. Behind me, is a person I have not met formally, but is also an expert in such areas…his name is Wes Keenan  - your Surgeon General."

Wes was a bit salty at the fact that he didn’t get the chance to introduce himself, but keenly observed Bolton’s speech despite the unintended insult. As Cynthia began her part of the lecture, a large screen popped up from behind them and the lights dimmed. She began pointing to various photos and other medical documents being portrayed on the wide screen.

"It seems that the outbreak has made its first appearance eight days ago. It initially had it first reports in a medium-sized town in Wisconsin. From there, the plague began to spread rapidly. There are a few theories on how this plague evolved and how it is spread, but there are also some concrete facts that we should all abide to. After I tell you these first vital facts, I’ll open a discussion where you can ask your questions.

Once again, it seemed like Wes was being snuffed, he had done a great deal of investigating on the undead plague and had his own theories and findings on what he felt were absolute facts; facts that needed to be broadcasted worldwide. However, Cynthia continued her presentation without including Keenan.

"What I’m about to show you are uncensored, scientific, research clips that may be shocking, so brace yourselves. Here are photos of some recently deceased people, which were dismembered in order to show you just how quickly and vigorously the subjects become once infected with the virus"

In the background, a film clip was shown that featured a woman ghoul who had all of her limbs chopped off by a group of scientists. The zombie still moved about and thrashed her torso toward the researchers near to her in an attempt to bite them. The ghoul was strapped down to an examination table, but the scientists clearly stood a good distance away, taking no chances with the feral beast.

"Appalling is it? Replied Bolton. "As you can see, even when the deceased have had their limbs amputated, they can still be subject to reanimation and remain a stern threat if bitten. This virus is most unprecedented; it seems to thrive well in dead flesh as if it were living in a live host. What is more shocking is how it reactivates primal centers of the brain, which induce a lustful hunger for human flesh! The most vital information to know is to be aware that these infected people must never bite you. Now I know some of you have had family members bitten by these …creatures, but you must realize that they are no longer responsible for their own actions and will attack you on a moments notice. This said; it is absolutely imperative that you stay clearly away from family members who have been bitten or infected. If you do not, you will become infected yourself…and as we are well aware of, there is no current cure for this ungodly epidemic!"
