Part 2
Yes, everyone here is great in their roles. Simon Baker is finally used right in a lead role(unlike him in the Ring 2), John Leguizamo is a real person in this film instead of your standard roles I see him in, Dennis Hopper delivers a great role as the self proclaimed head of the Fiddler's Green and all around asshole. But the best performances come from two actors that America has yet to meet. One being the lovely Asia Argento...her role as Slack is nothing more than amazing. I just loved the way she played her character. Asia played this role on two totally different levels...one was a scared girl(who's never been outside in to the real world) and also plays the tough girl who acts like she can handle all the shit around her but inside she's scared shitless. But what I loved most about her, besides being really yummy is her eyes. I mean, her eyes during the film give you real insight into her real character and not the wannabe tough girl. It's great to see while she's trying to be tough her eyes are always watery like she wants to cry from the terror. It's amazing because it lets you know while she's acting one way you know inside she knows she way over her head. Amazing, simply amazing. Then the other great role is Eugene Clark as Big Daddy and just like Bub in Day, he was another zombies that we all cheered for. His performance as Big Daddy was great to watch as he made this dead guy come to life,in away, by acting like a new born baby as it starts relearning the simplest of things. It's amazing because you find yourself really cheering for him while you know what he likes to eat. Great job there.
Directing wise, George really brings it home. I've always considered George more a writer then a director. George has never had any clear style, which isn't a bad thing because he has this simple yet classic way of shooting that makes his film look like classics. But here George really comes off a true master behind the camera. His style is all his own and still has that classic feel that all his films have had. There's one shot that I really love in the film when the zombies break into Fiddler's Green and attack the rich people. Not only is that a classic moment of the oppressed fighting back against the oppressors...but the way he shoots it makes you go "Wow" There's a shot when a zombie attacks a woman then the shot cuts to a POV as we look up through the glass floor as the zombie drops her to the floor. It's a very clever and beautiful shot then BAM! It cuts to a close up on the girl having her belly piering being ripped off. Classsic! It's really too bad that some fans can't see this film for what it is(a clever made film) instead of seeing what it's not(Dawn of the Dead 2). If people would just forget about the other films and just watch this film as it's own film, like it was meant to be, then they would love it as much as I do. This film is a fucking classic. There's no other way to say it even more simple than that. The gore was kick ass. I was amazed how much they showed for being rated R. Also for the 15 million dollar budget the film looked way bigger. I hope Hollywood sees what a great artist can do with so little money. This was my first time seeing a Romero film on the big screen and from the opening credits I knew I was in good hands. My first Romero zombie film on the big screen was everything I thought it was going to be and much much more. This film looks bigger than what it really was and it all has to do with one man...George A Ramero...the man...the legend...the master. Great show.

My Rating: A BAD MOTHER FUCKER! That's it. This film is a fucking classic just like the other 3 films. But just like the other films, they are their own story set inside this one universe that are completely different and completely work of art. With the bunch of crappy zombie films that have been coming out over the last few years that all follow the Night of the Living Dead concept I can't believe more people didn't get behind this film for being clever, original and well told. Too bad because if people give it a chance...they will see how much of a classic this film really is.
