First of all, a remake does NOT 'ruin' the original film. The only way that can happen is if someone takes every single copy of that original films (negatives, DVDs, etc.) & burns them. That's what 'ruin' mean.

Secondly, no films needs to be remade. Remakes are done for the hell of it. Someone liked/disliked something about the original & wants to put their own spin on things. In this case, they liked the original & wanted to expand on it more.

On a related note of that, remakes do not have to be exact duplicates of the original. It would be an insult to moviegoers everywhere if they just 'traced' the original.

I liked the remake a lot. Better than the first? No. Just different.
