Subject: Romero thanks GWB for LOTD Success | Date: Sun 19-Feb-2006, 19:53:47 | | | Aint that a kick in pants?? Zombies distracted by fireworks anyone? Canada as the Land of the Free?
ROMERO THANKS BUSH FOR SUCCESS Cult horror director GEORGE A ROMERO credits the failings of US President GEORGE W BUSH's administration with the success of his movie LAND OF THE DEAD.
The 66-year-old movie maker, who launched the infamous zombie series with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD in 1968, claims audiences can relate to political side of the film, which examines grave contemporary issues such as homelessness and AIDS, because Bush is doing little to address them.
Romero says, "(The film) didn't initially perform well in the States because it was released right between BATMAN (BEGINS) and WAR OF THE WORLDS.
Then it did really well over here (UK) and the DVDs were flying off the shelves.
"I think whatever success it's had, I owe it a lot to the Bush administration."
