On point number one, I always wrote that off to playing to contemporary, general movie-going audiences. I didn't particularly like it, but didn't let it bother me. I can, however, see why zombie afficianados would be annoyed by it.

On point number two, I always wrote Anna's risen boyfriend off as still in a slightly confused state. His meal was there one second, and just gone the next. I doubt he had much in the way of "object permanence" and he just got totally screwed up and turned around very easily. When Anna went to the door and said his name, he keyed right back in on her position and attacked with full fury. I can't help out on the eyes, though...
