Romero's classics weren't financially successful. NIGHT 68 is considered a masterpiece, the introduction to modern zombie lore. Hell, if Romero made a nickel he was lucky. DAWN 78 wasn't really much either. DAY was released unrated, so it's audiences were limited. Plus, with the almost simultaneous release of ROTLD, it lost great deal of potential movie goers. Anyway, DAY's trailers weren't that appealing.

Financial success does not mean anything...
