A lot of movies have 'shock' scenes to add fun to the film. At the time it's not supposed to make sence.It's after the 'umteenth time you see it that these questions come about.
Personally I liked the DOTD 04 movie and didn't compare it to the original, same plot different story variation. IMO that is..
