Subject: Like it more or less now on DVD? Date: Fri 28-Oct-2005, 12:11:39

I've now watched it 3X since getting the DVD, and some scenes are still fun (grenade always gets me laughing) but it just doesn't stand up for me as well as it did when I first saw it...just feels so rushed.

I prayed the the deleted scenese would include waht I kep wanting to see when I read the script:I also wondered to myself, "where's the scene where Riley and Slack slowly walk around and between the dead who are transfixed by the fireworks"? That scene read so well----I really wanted to see it but Romero changed things towards the end (slack is not set adrift and comes to the city at the end, separated by riley, et al). BUt, No zombie rats is a good thing!

Speaking of deleted scenes, why take out Mullign getting sprung and getting weapons....what, it slowed it down? It's okay, slow it down, man, I won't be offended. A little continuity and visual exposition go a long way!

I have replayed several scenes that I enjoyed (Big Daddy round up crew as flames cast orange glow over devastated street in Uniontown; Riley and bridgekeepr, Riley's run to Dead Reckoning; feeding scenes)...fun, but not the stuff or my nightmares, or my dreams of GAR's 4th Dead film. Is it me?

The feeding seems to not be part of the plot but literally taked on....it is so quicly edited that it doesn't seem as horrorific as the slower one in Day where the moans are heard and the feast is happening. The Dawn basement scene still give me chills...awesome, so well done IMO. Here, the nearest scene, in the ammo bunker, still seems rushed...good stuff, but not scary IMO.

It's still a good, fun movie IMO but not a dark, devastating or haunting one like Night, Dawn or Day...just not scary AT ALL IMO. It seemed too generic now on DVD, and very slick seeing it again at home-nothing really shocking or nightmarish, even with the enhanced gore.

Am I that jaded? or IS the movie so slick, kind of diluted and watered-down horror with a very linear plot, resulting in ONLY a fun action flick with zombies? It's still fun, and I enjoy the sotry and characters but it feels too fast, too rushed,. Example: scene beside the woody, zombies in the mist and woods---spend a few more frames on this, add a little more. We're in no rush (the audience)...tease us more with the zombies in the mist, fine, but also show some coming out, etc. Wasted, IMO. Dicktease!

I don't think I will be replaying this one each month as I do wth Dawn and Day; there's just not enough to keep me coming back..
