Have you ever noticed that the zombies hardly ever attacked the animals, only in
rare cases did they eat them and the animals never came back from the dead? See
my point now, the planet raises the dead, the dead kill man, nothing left for
the dead to eat means the dead die out, or once the last human is dead they go
back to being totally dead or they just decompose, animals get the planet
back.
I suppose before I go on any more I should introduce my self. My name is James
Wilson. A fairly non-descript name, just like I was before all this happened. I
was just a student when the shit hit the fan, had no real friends at the
university. I guess you could say I was a loner, which isn’t that bad when you
think about it, seeing as I have spoken to no one in the last six months. Every
one thought I was weird, I was always slightly different, be it my sense of
humor or my dress or just the way I acted. I could always be counted on to do
something strange at a party or just for a bet. It kept the bullies off me most
of the time, well all of the time. There was this one occasion just after I got
to university that someone took offence to my appearance and decided to beat it
into me that I should not wear what I what I was wearing, so after much
pummeling and much of my blood being spilt he stopped. I stood up and smiled
and said thank you, after that incident I was pretty much left alone. Still in
the long run I am the one who is still alive and not a walking corpse, funny
how these things work out.
You see the whole situation worked out the strong from the weak, I know that sounds
harsh but it was true. A lot of those who thought they were strong are dead,
and a lot of them were the first to die. A great deal of them panicked and did
something very stupid, like getting eaten, while those who were considered
weaker survived longer, those that used their brains and worked together
survived the longest. And everyone always thought survival of the fittest meant
the strongest over the weak. Just proves how wrong we always are.
After it started the emergency services were the first to fall as they were in the
line of fire so to speak, the ambulance people and the fire fighters died by
the dozens. The ambulance staff because of the dead and the fire fighters
because of the looters. Why, whenever there is a crisis does it bring out the
worst in people? You had riots; fires’ being set off all because they suspected
a zombie was in the building. I know of one case where a fire was set off in a
tower block because of that reason, and there was no zombie. Almost 150 people
died because of it. Luckily none of them got back up. The down side this proved
that fire could kill them, so more fires were set. People shot at the police or
threw firebombs or used other home made weaponry, why? You ask, simple to stop
the police killing the zombies that were once their loved ones. Of course they
were not shot in the head so they got back up. This also led to running gun
battles in the streets between the police and the public, which always resulted
in more zombies being made and then there was the zombies in the gun battles as
well. I can just imagine it, some businessman guns down a police officer to
protect his poor zombie mother and she bites his throat out. Poetic justice, I
think so. We all knew what the problem was and how to deal with it, but did we,
like fuck did we. We regressed to the basic human instinct of the caveman. This
is my property so get off it or I will kill you. Bringing in the army and
declaring martial law only made matters worse, the army had orders to shoot any
looters or trouble makers, and many of them would shoot you if they did not
like they way you looked. Then there were the aid centers, like the American
versions they failed miserably, they were death traps. So all in all we fucked
up royally.
Within a month it was estimated that the dead outnumbered the living five to one and
the world closed its borders to England, just like we had all done to America.
There was no government, no law and order anymore, only chaos and anarchy. There
were roving gangs, like in America, travelling up and down the country. No
where was safe. If the zombies did not get you then the gangs did. Money became
obsolete, useless bits of paper that millions of people had worked their entire
lives for. The new currency became food, cigarettes, weapons, ammunition and
sex. Women became a possession, they only really survived in large groups if
they could kill as well as the men or they were willing to let their bodies be
abused, if they did neither then they were cast out, there was no place for
them. [ Continue to page 3 ] |
