think it was Deadman Deluxe who corrected me and pointed out the obvious: if maybe 2-3 million folks buy a DVD that retails for $20 (U.S.) that then is a nice chunk of change ADDED to the worldwide box office of what will lkely round off to about $50 million. Not a financial disaster by any means---released at the worst time IMO in the U.S. but eh...
If it's all economics then a film that cost maybe $18 million, with a $12-15 million dollar advert budget ($35 million tops for all costs) makes, when all is said and done, at least $60 million (theatrical and DVD sales) I think a sequel will be greenlighted. The film has made a profit... |
