Dudes of the Dead,
The way I understand it, Dawn '04 was a REMAKE, not a sequal. The sequel to the REMAKE might be considered Dawn '04 Part 2. It need not be titled Day of the Dead to be a sequel to the REMAKE.
Consider, as an analogy, the three versions of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers that exist. Two are called Invasion of the Body Snatchers and one is called Body Snatchers. All three basically start at the beginning of the invasion. If someone were to make an actual sequel (as opposed to a REMAKE) it would likely continue the story from where one of the three left off, and might indeed be called Invasion of the Bodysnatchers 2.
Make sense?
As far as Dawn '04 Part 2 being a rumor -- Zack Snyder has confirmed that its in on the table and that the studio wants it. However, as of yet there's no script or confirmation that any of the individual actors in Dawn '04 will (or would) return.
