Subject: RE: Smart Zombies....and GAR ending. | Date: Fri 21-Oct-2005, 06:22:25 | | ![](img/e.gif) | ![](img/e.gif) The zombies were incapable of reasoning powers in Dawn of the Dead, it was only 3 or 4 weeks into the plague. All they could do was use basic tools in a rudimentary fashion as well as tell who was zombie and who was human (e.g. Steven's zombie reveal in the elevator shot).
Personally, I was really into what GAR was doing in LOTD. A species does evolve over time, the zombies are no different. They're trying to regain a sense of normality in their own lives (hell, they were returning to their beloved mall in Dawn), a place to be, a reason to exist. Just like the humans who are pretending to live their lives like they did before the plague. With the zombies and humans on level pegging at the end of the film - that I was really into personally. It's all part of starting to demonise the actions of humans and become allied with the zombies who are starting to become somewhat victimised - hence the first scenes with the humans tear-assing through the streets picking off zombies that aren't attacking them. |
