Subject: Disturbing outcome of forcible Land watching...Date: Thu 20-Oct-2005, 15:35:49

My best friend and I agreed that when Land came out in theaters I could drag her to see it. I never got the chance. Instead I watched it twice with my at-the-time girlfriend and once with my mother. Both times I saw it with my GF I didn't like it. I realize now that AYBE it had to do with the fact that she could not be on time to save her life. We were late to the theater both times, got no popcorn (a staple of movie going) and then got into the movie about 5-15 minutes in. When I went with my mother we got there early, loaded for bear (nachos, cokes, popcorn, Twizzlers, the whole nine yards baby!) and I rather enjoyed it... not nearly as much as I was hoping for, but more than the first times. My mother loved it. I've forced her to watch Night, Dawn, Day and the Dawn remake, none of which she liked too well. She prefered Night '90 over any of the others, but she absolutley loved Land, calling it "the only zombie film that ever had a plot." My main problem with the movie was that it HAD NO plot. I figured I missed something.

I bought Land when it came out on DVD on Tuesday the 18th. I brought it home and set it aside for watching. My brother watched it late and told me it was the best zombie flick he's ever seen. He told me that the plot could easily translate into a non-zombie movie, and the story was engrossing. I never saw anything engrossing in it.

I watched the movie last night with my friend. Although she pointed out a number of problems that I too noticed, she liked it more than the others she's seen (I've also forced her to watch them all)

This was a bit of a surprise, I thought. It's made me enjoy the movie a LITTLE more, knowing those closest to me find enjoyment in it. I can see it through their eyes and begin to like it.
