Yep, think I was.

Item1 - People are trying to survive in both films as are the undead making things difficult for them.
Item2 - How is Dawn's plot "utterly ridiculous"? The only safe refuge they find is in a local mall. There, they try to survive. THAT's "ridiculous" how?
Item3 - They HAD TO leave the mall 'cause the zombies got in. Even if they didn't get in, they would have had to leave earlier. They would have eventually run out of food, etc. Besides, Ana said she didn't want to die there. They all wanted a better life than the mall. Makes perfect sense.

They were both ridiculous to the non-fan for one big, fat, honking reason. The dead are getting up and attacking the living . If I wasn't the fan I am, I would have left the theater laughing at both films for being so implausible.

Item1 - I think the acting was equal in both. Neither made me go "WOW!" or cringe for that matter

Dawn04 made me cringe at some parts. Especially when the baby scene happened...just god awful acting in my opinion, though you might see it differently.

Item1 - Both films were meant to be different. LOTD being more slow & cerebral while DOTD 04 more "in-your-face". It's hard to say who would "win" seeing as how different they are.

Hence the "tie". They both got the job done in their own respect.

Item1 - As with the acting, I think both films were equal in this dept.

I actually don't. Land had the better overall makeup, as some of the zombies in Dawn04 made me laugh out loud at their ridiculous looks. Especially the running scenes, as the zombies not only looks insane, but the acting was sub-par an them as well. Overall, Land's zombies looked and acted better.

IMO, each film is different. DOTD 04 was meant to be more action-paced while LOTD more slow. I think (hence the word *I*) that DOTD 04 succeeded in its attempt. That's not to say LOTD was bad in any way.

I think Land succeeded as well. So, we're even.
