Subject: It's existence isn't wasted, but...Date: Sun 26-Jun-2005, 20:02:50

it's certaintly given too much credit.

Even though I despise the remake, it doesn't mean that other people don't enjoy it. They do. It made money, like the big namers wanted. It pleased the MTV generation.

But I think it's also given way too much credit. I don't think it has anything to do with LAND's success, if anything, it made it look like shit. The armored vehicle and Dead Reckoning ideas are similar. Sure, we the fans know Romero was first in line with that one. But what about the rest of the world? They think Romero is a little copy cat.

Not to mention the remake made running zombies look particularly bad ass to the general public. With the explosions and wild action, it raises the bar for LAND. I haven't seen LAND yet, but I can say, it's pressure. Landing in 5th at the box office, certaintly didn't get reinforcement from the remake.

Now DAWN having a hightened success because of the remake? Not necessarily. Maybe a minority discovered the original through the remake, but it isn't a global phenomenon. I've been watching this in my area, and talking with people in different areas. It really hasn't had a particular change.

The box set of the original? Still would have got it. There's a dedicated fan base and I think anchor bay realized this. Now effect one way or another.

The credit everyone of you give this remake is complete and utter BULLSHIT!
